This Privacy Policy explains how the Glad mobile app (“Glad”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) handles information when you use it. By using Glad, you agree to the practices described here.
Glad does not have user accounts and does not ask you to sign in. Your missions, goals, chosen name, personality setting, and streak are stored only on your device. We do not operate a server that collects or stores a personal profile of you. There are a few limited exceptions, each described below: sending text to an AI service to generate messages, sending diagnostic crash reports so we can fix bugs, processing subscriptions through Apple, and using an advertising and analytics service (Meta) to measure our marketing. On iOS, advertising measurement only happens if you allow it through Apple’s tracking prompt (see Section 7). If you choose to enable it, Glad also uses your device’s approximate location to match its day/night look to your local sunrise and sunset — this is optional and never leaves your device (see Section 8).
The following is saved locally on your phone (using the device’s on-device storage) and is not transmitted to us for storage:
If you delete the app, this information is erased from your device.
To create personalized reminders, greetings, and encouragement in your chosen personality, Glad sends limited text to an AI processing service. Depending on the message being generated, this may include:
This text is sent over a secure connection to our processing endpoint, which forwards it to Google’s Gemini AI service to generate the response. We do not use this content to build a marketing profile of you, and we do not sell it. Google’s handling of data sent to its AI services is governed by Google’s own privacy terms. Because these titles are sent for processing, we recommend you avoid putting sensitive personal information in mission or goal titles.
If the AI service is unavailable, Glad falls back to built-in messages and sends nothing.
So we can find and fix problems, Glad sends a basic diagnostic report to our processing endpoint if the app encounters an error. A report contains a short error message, a technical stack trace, and your device platform and operating-system version. These reports are used only to diagnose and fix bugs. They are not used to identify you or to build a profile, and they are not sold. Error messages and stack traces are not intended to contain personal information.
Glad is offered as an auto-renewing subscription that begins with a free trial. Purchases are processed by Apple and managed on our behalf by RevenueCat, our subscription infrastructure provider. To validate and restore purchases, RevenueCat processes purchase transaction information and an anonymous app user identifier. We never receive or store your credit card or full payment details — Apple handles all billing.
Glad sends local notifications (reminders) that are scheduled and delivered on your device. These do not transmit data to us. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device Settings.
To measure how well our advertising works and to understand how the app is installed and used, Glad uses the Meta (Facebook) SDK from Meta Platforms, Inc. When enabled, the Meta SDK may collect and share the following with Meta:
Meta uses this information to attribute app installs and events to our ads, to measure and improve ad performance, and — subject to your choices and Meta’s own policies — for Meta’s advertising and analytics. This means a limited amount of your app activity may be shared with a third party (Meta) and, on iOS, used to track you across other companies’ apps and websites for advertising measurement, when you permit it. Meta’s handling of this data is governed by Meta’s Privacy Policy: https://www.facebook.com/privacy/policy/.
Your choices:
Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Glad can follow your local day. When you choose to enable it, the app uses your device’s approximate (coarse) location to calculate your local sunrise and sunset times, so that Glad’s day/night appearance and animated sky match the real time of day where you are — making it feel like Glad is on the same schedule as you.
Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services
→ Glad. Deleting the app removes the stored coordinate.
Because your app data lives on your device, you control it. To delete everything Glad stores, delete the app. Text sent for AI generation is processed transiently to return a message and is not retained by us. Diagnostic crash reports are retained only as long as needed to investigate and fix issues. Advertising and analytics events shared with Meta are retained and handled according to Meta’s policies; you can adjust or reset your advertising identifier in your device settings.
Glad is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will address it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent version. Continued use of Glad after changes means you accept the updated policy.
